Wow.
What an insane weekend that was. It started with us arriving around one or so after we left the hotel at noon. We rode in two jeepneys and ours was stopped for about half an hour because (I think) they were getting the spare tire vulcanized or something. I was listening to my iPod the whole time thinking about how much the heat and humidity sucks.
We got there around high tide and there were already a lot of people in the water. We settled in and put our stuff in the only bedroom there in the “building” (“resort” does not quite fit the place) that had the only bed frame there. It was made of wood with no cushions and that is where I slept most of the time I was there. Family members slowly started arriving as the day went on but I fell asleep in the middle of the afternoon because of the heat. Too bad the heat did not let me rest, however, because I felt like I was being roasted inside an oven while I was sleeping.
I somehow managed to sleep and woke up later at around 6 or 7 to the sound of drunken karaoke which is the unofficial national pastime of the Philippines. I do not think you understand how serious I am about that. In the residential areas, you cannot walk for more than ten feet without hearing karaoke from any direction.
Anyway, once I woke up the sun had made its way a little further down the horizon and was preparing to let the moon take over. A few more relatives had trickled in (as it seems was always the case any time I went in and out of a room) and there were more decorations set up all over the big building. The tide had receded a few feet (or should I say meters?) as well.
Nothing else really happened that night except I jumped on the mic for a karaoke duet with my aunt Chona on some Evanescence song. Then we got down to September. Let me just explain, I am a song AND dance kind of man. If I am going to do something, I am going to do it with a bang and go 110 at it. If you watch me, then I want to give you a show. Plain and simple.
The next day was one non-stop celebration. To go into detail with words would take quite a lot of space. Just rely on the audio/visual section.
