Some random things (pt. 1)

These are just a few things that either made me laugh, are ridiculous, or just do not fit anywhere else.

Photobucket
I did not demand for a receipt, but I still got a gift.

Photobucket
I know what you are thinking. No, I did not visit the breastfeeding station.

Photobucket
In the Philippines, buffets are not All You Can Eat, but rather, they are Eat All You Can.
They mean business when it comes to fine dining so you MUST eat all you can...or else you will get charged double.

Photobucket
Contrary to the can's claim...there was no evidence of orange juice in that drink.

Photobucket
I did not, have not, nor will I ever eat pig pie.

Photobucket
Nippletape. Enough said.

More to come once my laptop stops being annoying when it comes to anything Flash- or Java-related.

A Quick Trip to Ozamiz

-----
I apologize in advance for the very large pictures. It would take unreasonably long to resize each and every one, and even longer to put the codes in. Blogger won’t allow me to format the layout so they will fit.
-----

A few days after we got back from the reunion, we once again packed up and left somewhere else. This time it was to the island of Mindanau to a place called Ozamiz City. We had to because my Lola inherited land and we had to go check it out. I only tagged along because of the promise of a real shower at the hotel (and because I was hoping it had a gym – it did not). Also, I went so I can give you readers more of an idea of what the Philippine Islands are like in case you wanted to know.
Long story short, we left at 4:30 in the morning for a 6:30 flight, enjoyed a beautiful view on our 1-hour flight, I met an Australian Filipino woman, met with the land’s surveyor and talked with him for what seemed like forever (I was asleep most of the time) and FINALLY made it to the hotel – The Royal Garden. No, there was no royalty, nor was there a garden. I was disappointed twice in a row. In an attempt to add insult to injury, the hotel was out of souvenir shirts as well. This should have been taken as a hint that more bad things were waiting to happen.
I know you would usually scroll to find where the bad things start and skip the rest of the story so I will save you the trouble. We were supposed to stay for the whole week but we (they) finished after just one day. I slept in the hotel the entire day but when everyone came back I was informed that the people overseeing the lot were not even in town and therefore we had no business staying in Ozamiz City for the rest of the week. Naturally I was disappointed since that meant no more showers. We ended up taking a boat overnight back to Cebu.

We took my Lola’s cousin, Tia Rose, with us to Ozamiz because her husband lives there and he was the one who drove us around the whole time. We ended up staying at his house for the day while we waited for our boat to leave. He lived in a neighborhood of beach shacks right on the water’s edge. It was a pretty cool place. We were treated to a pre-meal meal of unripened bananas, gigantic fresh shrimp, crab, and wild duck. Lunch consisted of two differently cooked forms of squid, rice, and some other things I cannot remember. All of the food, save for the unripened bananas, was delicious.

We also went to visit my Lola's inherited property. At least that is what I was told we were doing. I managed to see my first Durian fruit in real life.

Family Reunion (06/27-06/28)

Wow.

What an insane weekend that was. It started with us arriving around one or so after we left the hotel at noon. We rode in two jeepneys and ours was stopped for about half an hour because (I think) they were getting the spare tire vulcanized or something. I was listening to my iPod the whole time thinking about how much the heat and humidity sucks.
We got there around high tide and there were already a lot of people in the water. We settled in and put our stuff in the only bedroom there in the “building” (“resort” does not quite fit the place) that had the only bed frame there. It was made of wood with no cushions and that is where I slept most of the time I was there. Family members slowly started arriving as the day went on but I fell asleep in the middle of the afternoon because of the heat. Too bad the heat did not let me rest, however, because I felt like I was being roasted inside an oven while I was sleeping.
I somehow managed to sleep and woke up later at around 6 or 7 to the sound of drunken karaoke which is the unofficial national pastime of the Philippines. I do not think you understand how serious I am about that. In the residential areas, you cannot walk for more than ten feet without hearing karaoke from any direction.
Anyway, once I woke up the sun had made its way a little further down the horizon and was preparing to let the moon take over. A few more relatives had trickled in (as it seems was always the case any time I went in and out of a room) and there were more decorations set up all over the big building. The tide had receded a few feet (or should I say meters?) as well.
Nothing else really happened that night except I jumped on the mic for a karaoke duet with my aunt Chona on some Evanescence song. Then we got down to September. Let me just explain, I am a song AND dance kind of man. If I am going to do something, I am going to do it with a bang and go 110 at it. If you watch me, then I want to give you a show. Plain and simple.

The next day was one non-stop celebration. To go into detail with words would take quite a lot of space. Just rely on the audio/visual section.
